Dr Foot PRX Orthotic Insoles — Flat Feet and Overpronation

The Dr Foot PRX is a full length podiatrist engineered orthotic insole designed specifically to correct overpronation and support collapsed arches. At its core is a clinically proven 2 degree medial wedge, handglued and clamped to the black orthotic shell, which lifts the sustentaculum tali at the inner heel and restores neutral subtalar alignment from the ground up.

What makes the PRX different

The PRX combines a deep heel cradle for landing stability, a dual density EVA base for shock absorption, a blue forefoot cushion pad to offload the metatarsal heads, and the medial wedge to correct the root cause of pronation rather than simply masking symptoms. The blue suede top surface is soft against the foot while the rigid orthotic shell beneath controls motion throughout the gait cycle.

Conditions treated

Flat Feet, Overpronation, Plantar Fasciitis, Arch Pain, Heel Pain, Heel Spurs, Shin Splints, Ankle Pain, Knee Pain, Metatarsalgia, Morton's Neuroma, Bunions, Aching Legs and Lower Back Pain.

Fits most footwear

Suitable for athletic shoes, boots, and everyday casual shoes. Can be trimmed with scissors for a precise fit. Compatible with most standard shoe widths.

Podiatrist Approved

Designed and engineered by qualified podiatrists. Trusted by thousands of repeat customers across the UK.

How will these help my feet?

When you overpronate, your arch collapses inward with every step. This shifts your entire body weight onto the wrong structures, overloading the plantar fascia, straining the ankle, and sending misalignment forces up through the knee and lower back. Most insoles simply add cushioning on top of this problem. The PRX addresses it mechanically.

The 2 degree medial wedge tilts the heel into a corrected position the moment you step in. This single change realigns the subtalar joint, lifts the collapsed arch off the ground, and redistributes pressure evenly across the foot. The forefoot cushion pad then absorbs the shock that would otherwise concentrate at the ball of your foot, and the deep heel cradle keeps the heel stable on landing rather than rolling inward.

The result is a foot that is mechanically supported throughout the entire gait cycle, from heel strike to toe off. Most customers notice a reduction in arch and heel pain within the first few days of wear. With consistent use the correction becomes cumulative, reducing strain on the plantar fascia, easing knee and lower back load, and allowing the soft tissues around the arch to recover properly rather than being repeatedly overstretched with every step.

Simply put, the PRX does not just make your shoes more comfortable. It changes the way your foot functions.

Are these made by real podiatrists?

Yes. Dr Foot was founded over 25 years ago by Mr Hussain, a published award winning consultant podiatrist, and has been a leading orthotics retailer ever since!

Every insole that requires any additional modification is hand finished and glued by our in-house podiatrists, because when it comes to your feet, we know exactly what works and why.

How long do Dr Foot insoles last?

Our insoles are built to last!

With regular daily use they can last up to 12 months before needing replacement.

2° Medial Wedge

Dual Layer Heel Cushion

Treats The Root Cause

Provides 12 Hours of Relief a Day

Engineered For Overpronation. Down To Every Degree.

Designed by podiatrists to correct the biomechanical imbalance that collapses your arch and strains your entire lower limb.

How does this help my flat feet and overpronation?

The Dr Foot PRX features a 2 degree medial wedge positioned at the rear of the insole beneath the heel. This wedge lifts the inner heel and shifts your bodyweight laterally, correcting the inward roll of the subtalar joint that occurs during overpronation. By realigning the heel and redistributing ground reaction forces away from the collapsed medial arch, the insole reduces the strain placed on the plantar fascia, tibialis posterior tendon, and medial ankle structures. Less inward collapse means significantly less load on the structures responsible for arch pain, heel pain, and knee pain.

Why is a 2 degree wedge the right correction?

Clinical research shows that even small degree corrections at the rearfoot produce measurable changes in joint loading and centre of pressure throughout the entire lower limb. A 2 degree medial correction is sufficient to shift load laterally and restore subtalar joint alignment without overcorrecting. Overcorrection transfers stress to the lateral structures and creates new problems. The 2 degree angle is a precise, clinically conservative correction that works with your natural biomechanics rather than against them, making it suitable for daily wear across all activity levels.

What Others Are Saying

Frequently Asked Questions

What condition is the PRX designed for?

The PRX is designed specifically for overpronation and flat feet. It uses a 2 degree medial wedge to correct the inward roll of the heel and restore neutral subtalar alignment, addressing the root cause of arch collapse rather than simply cushioning the foot.

How is the PRX different from a regular insole?

Most insoles add cushioning without correcting foot mechanics. The PRX contains a rigid orthotic shell and a handglued medial wedge that physically realigns the heel position. This mechanical correction changes the way your foot functions rather than just making it more comfortable.

How quickly will I feel a difference?

Most customers notice a reduction in arch and heel pain within the first few days of wear. Full biomechanical adaptation typically occurs over two to four weeks as the foot adjusts to the corrected alignment.

Can I wear the PRX all day?

Yes. The PRX is designed for full day wear across all activity levels. The dual density EVA base and forefoot cushion pad maintain support and shock absorption throughout the entire day.

What shoes are the PRX compatible with?

The PRX fits athletic shoes, trainers, boots, and most casual shoes with a removable standard insole. They are not suitable for very flat shoes, sandals, or footwear without adequate depth.

What is a medial wedge and how does it work?

A medial wedge is a precisely angled wedge of firm material positioned at the inner heel of an orthotic insole. On the PRX it sits beneath the heel on the inner edge, creating a 2 degree tilt that raises the inner heel relative to the outer heel.

When you overpronate, the subtalar joint rolls inward with every step, collapsing the arch and overloading the plantar fascia, ankle, and knee. The medial wedge counters this by tilting the heel back toward neutral the moment your foot contacts the ground, realigning the joint and redistributing pressure away from the collapsed arch.

Two degrees is the clinically preferred angle because it corrects the mechanics without overcorrecting, making it safe and effective for daily wear across all activity levels.

Can I trim the PRX to fit my shoes?

Yes. The PRX can be trimmed with scissors to achieve a precise fit. Always trim gradually from the toe end and test the fit regularly as you cut.

Will the PRX help with knee and back pain caused by flat feet?

Yes. Overpronation sends misalignment forces up through the knee and lower back with every step. By correcting the heel position and arch mechanics at ground level, the PRX reduces the compensatory strain on the knee joint and lumbar spine.

Can I trim the PRX to fit my shoes?

Yes. The PRX can be trimmed with scissors to achieve a precise fit. Always trim gradually from the toe end and test the fit regularly as you cut.
